Temperature | Acclimated plants are very tolerant of cool or cold temperatures in the spring. In zone #5, they do best in the early spring to early summer, May to June, tend to slow down in the hot, drier months, and then come on strong in the cool fall (mid-September-October). With some protection, I had Petunias bloom on Turkey Day. Hardened petunias can be planted in early May in zone #5. |
Flowers | funnel-shaped, sold light to medium yellow or a yellow throat with light yellow to cream white edge |
Leaves | alternate and covered with a viscid pubescence, making them sticky when pinched |
Stems | cascading |
Dimensions | 10-16 tall by 20 plus in width, mounding, trailing |
Maintenance | Container plants may need to be pruned to keep the plants compact. Deadheading will promote longer bloom time in both bedded and container-grown plants. Plants in the garden may need cutting back in the hotter times of the year. This Petunia requires minimal maintenance. |
Propagation | rooted cuttings |
Author's Notes | The plants I grew during the summer of 2023 were in planter boxes along a fence. Although listed as having medium vigor (which they were), they still produced lots of flowers throughout the summer. |
