Flowers
The orchid pink flowers are found in a boat shaped leaf called a bract.
Leaves
The purple foliage is fleshy. Lance shaped leaves are covered with a fine pale hair. The water will form beads on this hair (pubescence) and glisten in the sun light. This is a neat feature but water on the leaves (especially if the water is hard) will spot the leaves.
Maintenance
This plant needs to be cut back when either the foliage starts to get tattered or the plant becomes scraggly. It will tend to stretch after flowering. When fertilizing with liquid fertilizer avoid getting the fertilizer on the leaves. The fertilizer will spot the leaves.
Propagation
Easily started from cuttings or division.
