A low growing medium to wide spreading shrub. It looks like a Juniper but lacks the prickliness of the needles.

In areas were the soil will get saturated or stay wet over extended periods of time is not the place for this shrub. Needs to have well drained soil. This is one area I think the shrub is a little picky.

Flowers are not ornamental. Male and female strobili found on separate plants.

The fruits form woody scales.

Bright green turning to a coppery-brown in the winter. The needles are soft feathery with nodding tips

Author's Notes
I have used this on a few occasion on landscape jobs. It can be over stated that this plant does not tolerate wet soggy soils.
