A sport of Sedum Matrona with dark purple, almost black foliage. Has a propensity to revert back to a Sedum Matrona type plant.
Plant Type
All Plants, Perennials Hardy

I have seen major Botanical Gardens put this plant in shaded sites and they were leggy and very floppy. Full sun is the preferred site.

Since Black Jack has such dark foliage it is best planted against a lighter foliage plant. The plant will be lost against dark colors.

Cultivar Origin
Originated in a field of Sedum Matrona at the Walter Gardens perennial nursery in Michigan (USA).
Author's Notes
After growing this plant for a few years I have found that it readily reverts back to Matrona. I was at a perennial nursery looking for some Sedum Matrona for a job and they were sold out. I comment to the sales person, "well I will just buy Black Jack since they will revert back to Matrona anyway".
