| A white, light , dusty component of growing media's, made from volcanic lava. The lava is mined from lava flows. It is heated to around 1800 degrees farenheit, causing the water trapped inside to turn to steam, expanding the kernal. It is neutral to basic in ph, no nutrients, holds three to four times it's weight in water. Wetting the perlite before using is a good way to keep down the dust. |
